At 30 June 2014:

    • The median age of male adult prisoners varied across the states and territories, with the lowest recorded in the Australian Capital Territory (31.7 years) and highest in Victoria (35.5 years). The median age of female prisoners was lowest in the Northern Territory (33.0 years) and highest in South Australia (37.1 years). (Table 13)

    • The proportion of adult prisoners aged 24 years or under ranged from 12 % (757 prisoners) in Victoria to 22% (1,545 prisoners) in Queensland. (Table 20)
